There are times in which you wonder if you are even making a dent in situations you are passionate about trying to change. This was one of those times. We entered this residence and immediately felt overwhelmed., that feeling you get like there’s a pit in your stomach.

Cats sprinting everywhere, one climbing the wall because he has never spotted a human in the daylight. The smell is powerful. But hey! I’ve dealt with alot of cat shit in my life. The entire situation is a sad one, not only for the cats, but for the humans as well. The owner of the cats is a deeply wounded man mentally. Topped off with a drug addiction and claims to love all of his cats. It is apparent to me he doesn’t know how many cats he actually has nor does he understand the troubling situation he and his cats are living in.

He has tried. There is food in the bowls, there are litter boxes, they are overflowing with feces. The landlord is with us and he is stressed, this is his apartment and the tenant hasn’t paid his rent in months. Just seeing the destruction of his rental property is so mind blowing . This is a kind person and wants what’s best for the cats. It’s time to get started. The tenant is now angry with us and wants us to leave. It’s all so unfortunate, he’s being evicted. The cats must go and he must go . We start to load the friendly cats into crates. I sense that they are relieved. Sitting calmly peering out through the crates. The rest of the day is not so easy. There are cats in the wall, ceiling, dryer vent, under beds, holes in sofas, dresser drawers and so many kittens!

I wonder….”I am even making the slightest difference?” The moment I walk into these types of situations, I immediately question myself…..OMG am I helping?? Is this ever going to stop???

I remember the oldest quote that every animal.shelter, rescue organization and SPCA has heard a million times “SAVING THE LIFE OF ONE ANIMAL WON’T CHANGE THE WORLD, BUT IT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THAT ONE ANIMAL.” That always sounded so cliché to me until I looked at all those innocent faces looking right back at me. Not so cliché any longer, it’s TRUE!

I think we do make a difference. We certainly made a difference in the lives of those animals we save. ❤️

So happy to report this ‘precious lot’ has since found loving homes.
