Tuesday’s Rescue Spotlight

From Rescue Pup to Wildlife Warrior 🐾🌲

Meet Nova, a stunning Cane Corso x Pitbull who came into our rescue at just 12 weeks old after suffering unimaginable trauma, her abuse was so severe that the Police had to intervene. Despite her heartbreaking beginning, Nova’s spirit remained unbroken.

She was adopted by John and Christy, who quickly recognized her incredible potential. With her natural drive, keen nose, and unmatched determination, Nova began training alongside her pack mate, Alta the Karelian Bear Dog, to become a wildlife service dog. And wow—did she ever shine! 🌟

Nova now travels far and wide with John, helping keep wildlife and people safe, and showcasing what rescued dogs are truly capable of. She’s a powerful ambassador for all rescue animals—proving that with love, guidance, and opportunity, they can do just as much (and often more!) than dogs bred for specific roles.

When she’s not out protecting nature, Nova melts into a giant cuddlebug—soaking up all the love and affection she can get. Her sweet personality and social charm have made her a favorite everywhere she goes.

🐻 Most recently, Nova worked the G7 Summit alongside her Karelian team—an incredible achievement that highlights just how far this brave girl has come.

We are beyond proud of Nova and endlessly grateful that she found her perfect home with Christy and John. Her story is a reminder of the resilience of rescue dogs and the incredible things they can achieve when someone believes in them.

Good girl, Nova—you’re a true hero. ❤️

“Riley” spends countless hours volunteering at our centre. The animals love him & we love him!

Jennifer is a Hero.

She helps so many people and animals! Self sacrificing, giving, lends a helping hand when needed! All the while smiling. Everyone needs a Jennifer in their lives if you are lucky enough. ❤️

(ABOVE) Group Youth Students and Work Experience Students come to our centre to spend time with our animals. Special thanks to TJ that helps these students enjoy their time with our animals.

(BELOW) Grade nine English come in to spend time getting to know the animals to help write Bios for all the animals at the centre so their words can add to help find them loving homes. What a great idea! Bringing Students closer to animals, making the plight of animal homelessness real. Such a great way to educate our young people.
